Hi my name is Janette Callon and I would
like to welcome you to the Russtam Terriers website. For many years it was
mainly Airedales who still remain my special love.

Rusty & Tammy -
Origin of our Affix
My life with Airedales began as one of the classic tales we often hear,
about the Airedale sitting beside the babies pram and guarding the baby.
My grandfather being one of the early breeders before the first world war.
It was inevitable that my parents would also own Airedales.
Being an only child the Airedales were always my constant friends and
companions throughout my childhood years. When Danny (my husband) came
along he was introduced to Penny my Airedale friend of many years.

Penny
In 1970 shortly after Danny and I married we obtained our own Airedale
bitch (Nell) She was mainly Burdale lines. She was to become our
foundation bitch and all our stock are descended from her. We always used
the top stud dogs and kept mainly bitches.

Nell
Our first show dog was Russtam Little Model (Mandy) a daughter of Nells
sired by Ch. Lukenias Trawlerman of Burdale. A dog which I greatly
admired. We decided to have a go at showing as I had always enjoyed
showing my ponies during my teens. We had great fun with Mandy including
many B.I.S. awards and two Res. C.C.s.. Then came a daughter of Mandys.
Russtam Christmas Rose (Sally) She was sired by Ch. Tanworth Merriment. We
were flying when she won her first C.C at only 17 months of age. Our hopes
only to be dashed when she escaped one day and returned with a badly
broken leg. We then kept our first male Russtam Bingley boy. (Joe) I think
he was Danny,s favourite. Joe was sired by Ch. Saredon Super Trouper.

Russtam Bingley boy
Joe’s daughter was the next to be shown Russtam Scarlet Ribbons (Bonnie)
Showing was not as easy for many years with Two small children and opening
our boarding Kennels. We campained two of Bonnies grandchildren Russtam
Phantom of the Opera ( Tommy ) and his lovely sister Russtam Lady in Red
(Ruby) Ruby gained 1C.C. and seven Res. C.C,s. These two were sired by Ch.
Robroyd Granite. Russtam Jack Daniels (Jack) is our present stud dog
siring super puppies including our own Ch. Jodean Evergreen of Russtam
(Holly). Who is now a mum herself so hopefully we will campain one of her
daughters in 2005.

Bonnie
Twelve years ago our first Lakeland came to live with us. Donna (my
youngest daughter) named her Scamp The name couldn’t have been more
appropriate. She came from the famous Saredon Kennels. We now own five of
these delightful rascals. We have enjoyed a lot of fun in the show ring
with some of Scamps family. Including Josie (Russtam Stalight Express) and
currently Eva (Russtam the songbird). Scamp now spends much of the day
relaxing on the sofa and watching the world go by.

Eight years ago we added the Welsh Terriers to our family again from the
Saredon Kennels. Princess our foundation bitch was sired by the famous Ch
Saredon Forever Young. (Crufts B.I.S. winner) We now have two of
Princess’s daughters and a granddaughter. We have begun to show the young
one Russtam Friday’s Child (Polly) She is a delightful little thing and a
pleasure to own.
My oldest daughter (Lisa) now shares the Russtam prefix with me. She and
her husband are now the fourth generation of our family to be Airedale
owners. They have just produced their first litter of Airedale puppies
from Gemma.(Russtam Over the Rainbow)
I award C.C,s in Airedales and judge all other Terriers at Open level. I
am also a KENNELCLUB ACCREDITED BREEDER.

Lisa also judges Airedales and other terriers at Open show level.
The dogs are first and foremost our friends and companions and spend all
their lives at home with us..
